Overview
The University of Lincoln undertook a programme of digital transformation to modernise its enterprise integration landscape and support a cloud-first strategy.
The Challenge
The university relied on legacy BizTalk services to integrate systems across academic and administrative functions. To support evolving requirements, it needed a more scalable and interoperable approach that aligned with its broader digital strategy while maintaining continuity across critical integrations.
The Approach
Black Marble delivered a migration from BizTalk to Azure Integration Services, alongside targeted training to support a smooth transition. The work included:
- Assessing and rationalising existing integrations across academic, finance, and student systems
- Designing Azure-native solutions using Logic Apps, API Management, and Service Bus
- Establishing reusable integration patterns and governance frameworks
- Aligning delivery with institutional priorities through close stakeholder collaboration
Knowledge Transfer
Training formed a core part of the engagement, equipping internal teams with the skills to manage, support, and extend both legacy and new integration solutions.
Outcome
The university replaced ageing integration infrastructure with a modern, cloud-based platform. This created a more flexible foundation for future integrations, improving scalability and supporting ongoing digital transformation across the organisation.
