Tom Barnes is Chief Operating Officer at Black Marble, having previously served as one of the company’s technical Principals. With over a decade at Black Marble, he brings a deep understanding of both delivery and operations, shaped by hands-on experience across the full software lifecycle.

Tom began his career at Black Marble in test and support, and has since worked across a wide range of customer engagements. His experience spans sectors including media, local government transport, health monitoring, and financial services, giving him a broad perspective on applying technology in complex environments. He is recognised for his ability to refine and translate customer requirements into practical delivery outcomes, with a consistent focus on detail and alignment to client needs.

Tom holds multiple Microsoft certifications, including DevOps Engineer Expert and Azure Developer Associate, as well as Azure Data Fundamentals. He also holds GitHub certifications in Actions, Administration, and Advanced Security, and is a Scrum Master.

He is a Professional Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) and holds an MEng.
