Community Events
Black Marble is active throughout the IT and Developer community, and it is part of our ethos to promote high standards and share knowledge and experience.
Developer Evangelism
To help in this endeavour we have launched developer community focused events that run in conjunction with our own usual series of events. These usually take place during the evening, to enable more of you to attend.
Speakers at these events include our own staff (who are active in other community events throughout the country too) as well as those from the Developer Evangelist community at large.
Security Tours
Our first community evening, brought Ed Gibson, Chief Security Advisor for Microsoft UK, to speak about his experiences. This very popular event, spawned a series of engagements for Ed and Robert Hogg (Black Marble's MD) at Universities throughout the North of England.
More are planned, and if you are interested in either attending or organising one at your University please get in touch on +44 1274 300 175 and ask for Linda Hogg.
Some of the Universities visited by Robert and Ed include York University, Hull University and Manchester University.
University Support
Black Marble encourage the new generation of developers by mentoring students in their final year projects, and take an active interest in ensuring students obtain the skills they need to get a job on graduation.
Local Events
The School of Informatics Industrial Innovation Unit (University of Bradford) ran a series of events to help the local community. These were meant to explore computing practice in accordance with the Government’s Communities of Practice Initiative. Both Robert Hogg and Richard Fennell of Black Marble participated in the events as speakers and received a very enthusiastic response.
